State of the Yankees: A healthy Jonathan Loaisiga could play a valuable role on 2020 club
NEW YORK – As spring training came to a premature close, Jonathan Loaisiga did not have an official role on the Yankees’ staff.
All signs pointed to the 25-year-old right-hander being a part of manager Aaron Boone’s pitching staff to begin the 2020 season.
But would he be the No. 5 starter?
Would he serve as a multi-inning reliever?
Could he eventually move into a prominent setup role?
Immediate, final plans were interrupted as the COVID-19 crisis delayed the start of MLB’s season. But the Yankees were clearly expecting Loaisiga to be a contributor right away.
